My new wife, Carrie, and I used Jason Lavengood, and his assistant Chrissy, as our photographers for our Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico wedding in April 2009. Not only were they there for the wedding day, but for a few days leading up to the ceremony. Jason and Chrissy were the utmost professionals for their entire trip. They made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, a position we don’t often find ourselves.
Jason and Chrissy spent the entire wedding day with Carrie, the moms, and the bridesmaids in the bridal suite of Las Caletas. After a day full of running around with the ladies, the rest of the wedding party arrived in the early evening. Despite his day of non-stop shooting, Jason ran down to the gentlemen’s quarters to shoot the guys getting ready for the ceremony.
Once the ceremony began, Jason and Chrissy always seemed to be in just the right place to capture every important moment, from walking down the aisle, to the rings, to the kiss. We never knew they were there, but we knew they were capturing the day exactly right. Despite shooting in the unusual condition of no natural light, only candlelight, Jason and Chrissy had all the right equipment and techniques to take great shots.
Once we saw the pictures that they took, we were even more astounded by their talents. We’ve never seen such amazing photography. The photographs really capture the day in a way that we could have never imagined. We hope to use Jason and Chrissy again soon.

We used Jason Lavengood and his assistant Chrissy for our destination wedding on the private beach cove of Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Jason and Chrissy are a husband and wife team, and their synergy as a team exceeds the sum of their parts. Jason takes the main portrait shots while Chrissy captures the same shot from afar at an angle. So you have the advantage of seeing the same shot as a “posed” portrait, as well as a candid frame. Jason and Chrissy showed a lot of creativity in setting up their shots, and really made the most of the natural surroundings. They scouted the beach area in advance of the ceremony and reception, in order to hunt out the most beautiful locations for our photographs. The depth of their skill shined through as they took shots at all hours of the day in various natural light settings. Whether it was high noon, sunset, or evening, our pictures were outstanding. Jason also does amazing things with Photoshop. He saved a great shot of me on the beach by removing an ill-placed boat sailing by in the background, using Photoshop. Had he not told us, I never would have known there was a boat there in the first place.
I was most impressed with Jason and Chrissy’s professionalism. They showed passion for their work, and a commitment to capturing all of the photographs we requested, as well as a number of photographs that they knew we would want, but that we did not have the foresight or creativity to think through. They truly guided us in this respect, and provided us with a collection of photographs that far exceeded our expectations.
Finally, Jason and Chrissy were relaxed, easy to work with, and enjoyable to have around, which is an important consideration when choosing a professional for your special day. I would highly recommend Jason and Chrissy for your wedding or any special event.
